Competition
Wingword Poetry Competition is a brilliant opportunity for young poets to compete nationally and showcase their talent. Our aim is to provide a platform to amateur voices. Each year, we award 5 Lakh Rupees in cash prizes to the winners of the competition along with the opportunity to have their works published by us.
Rules
- The competition is open to anyone who is 15 years old and above.
- You must be an Indian national, resident of India or a person of Indian origin to enter the competition.
- Poems submitted in the competition must be originally written by you.
- Your writing can be in any of the following languages: English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali, Assamese, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Malyalam, Tamil, Odia or Gujarati.
- Any length and style of poetry is accepted.
- We welcome all themes, for example personal topics such as love, family, childhood, identity as well as social issues such as women’s rights, corruption, violence and climate change.
- Entry Fee is ₹ 1000 for one poem, ₹ 2000 for three poems and ₹ 3000 for five poems.
- We encourage beginners to participate. If your work displays merit, it will be shortlisted.
- Previously published poems are allowed.
- This is a writing competition. Performance is not required anywhere.
Award Ceremony
All winners and commendable mentions are invited to the prestigious Wingword Poetry Prize award ceremony, due to be held in New Delhi in December 2023. It’s not compulsory to attend the ceremony. The winners who are not able to make it to the function will receive their prizes via courier.
Judging Criteria
We’re looking for poems about the inner thoughts and feelings people want to communicate. We want to see and experience the world through your eyes. The poems will be scored on the basis of originality, meaning and language.

Certificate of Participation
All participants receive certifications of participation. The certificate is mailed electronically after the announcement of results.
Submit Your Poems
First, deposit the entry fee for the number of poems you wish to submit. You will get access to a one-time download file containing the secret link to the submission form. You simply need to fill your personal details and attach your poetry on this form. Once you’ve submitted the form, you will also receive a confirmation email.
