We ran towards the finish line but the line got extended
We competed against people but the number ascended
We rushed to get first in line but the counter seemed far from reach
We ran against time to get to class before the teacher starts to teach
We elbowed our way in to check the scores The comparison and criticism left us sore
Working hard against the grind to feel secure
Putting ourselves out there while feeling insecure
Monday to Friday 9-5
Saturday Sunday is the vibe
As they run to climb up the ladder to get a promotion
I am working on myself to set things in motion
While they work on reports, I'll work on my dreams
Daring to take space doesn't require running as it seems.
