The Kiss

It’s a complicated world.
It’s a big, bad world out there...
He had never thought that a simple gesture of affection,
Something as simple as a kiss, could have such hard implications.

That evening, while playing their favourite game of hide-and-seek,
He had kissed her cheeks lightly, very lightly, in a moment of mischief,
And she, a petite porcelain figurine,
Hugged him, as any child would do a teddy bear.

He was just ten, and so was she.
Within hours, their anxious parents were summoned to the glorious institution.
A spate of arguments followed…
Voices rose high, abuses were hurled back and forth…
The kids, like fish out of water,
still unable to figure out the reason for the chaos,
learnt a new word that day: EXPELLED
