Parallels

By Mayurakshi Das

We're closer than most
But in parallels we are lost

Running together, walking together, stopping together
Yet never close enough to hold each other

These tracks of time keep us parted
The narrator of time failing to get us restarted

The cruel games of destiny,
Making us run forever to meet infinity

The pain of eyes locking, but hands never meeting,
Who knew it was a pain so hurting?

The distance is better, less is the fear,
Of seeing the tears in your eyes so clear

Let's run apart now, to fate let's not be coy
Better than being God's mere playtoy

To watch me leave, don't turn
You'll see me crumble and not run

If we meet again by fate
We'll start on a fresh slate

Let's be intersecting lines this time
I'll be yours and you'll be mine
