My Daily Durga

By Amrita Kumar

The Devi exists in every mother.
Much like Triyambake Gauri,
a mother too has fine wisdom,
to restore chaos in her queendom.
Not a hair out of place,
not a crease that needs mending,
with an unflinching zeal,
a mother goes about her day,
pouring the elixir of life,
to make one and all thrive.
She’s the eight handed daily durga,
A trick or solve up every sleeve,
fixing things and people in a sweep.
What is it that she cannot do?
She’s my daily durga,
fierce and bold,
Even fear shudders to enter her fold.
