Don’t show me the names
scribbled on the crumbling walls.
Don’t show me
the pierced hearts you made,
on the dull moss-covered walls
of the mausoleum in the park
near your house.
don’t show me the letters you wrote
but never posted,
hiding them under the bed.
Show me if you can
the tears that you shed in the night
and kept them as dewdrops
frozen in the corner of your heart,
show me the scars on your soul.
Make me no promises,
weave me no dreams,
get me no stars from the galaxies far away.
For I don’t need sun kissed flowers,
no vows of eternal togetherness,
for all I want
is you to hold me now
and look me in the eyes
for me to know
that you love me.
Look me in the eyes, my love,
for me to know you love me.
