Loneliness

By Mukul Kumar

Can you decipher the silence
abuzz with the unspoken?

Can you smell the presence
of those who are absent?

Can you understand the language
the creases of my bed speak?

Can you read my mind
from the impressions over my pillow?

Can you map the doors
embedded with my eyes?

Can you discern on the walls
the unreal friezes I watch?

Can you estimate in my intoxicated eyes
the blackness of the night?

Can you scale the incarcerated desires
my yawns fume?

Can you catch from my ears the
cacophonous breaths reverberating therein?

Can you discern the night
my morning carries?

Only then can you measure my loneliness!
Only then can you measure my loneliness!
