A CHILD KNOWS WHAT LONELINESS IS

By-Ferica Sari

It was a hit and run he said,

But my father didn't intend to.

He worked hard for me he said,

But now there's nothing I can do

My father surrendered himself

He was locked up in a jail.

I, now a young boy knows

What loneliness actually is.

I missed him, now that he is away

My friends came by to cheer me up

I'm sorry, I'm lonely

Without daddy by my side

The moon only makes me think of him

As that was his name,

I'm sure daddy is thinking of me

And loneliness adds fuel to the flame.

Now, my mother does not follow her face

She smiles and laugh for me

But I know of the loneliness

She has everyday

Mom Dad

The loneliness you carry

Left a deep wound in my heart.
