she reminded me of an Indian summer
the way she was fierce and subtle
the way her smiles brought warmth and life
the way she loved with a voracity that was almost childlike in its eagerness
like the sun that wouldn’t leave for she loved the world too much
like the rains that keep coming back to savor the moment of a simple kiss, a touch
she reminded me of an Indian summer
the way she knew her home was the wild
like the birds that were free
like the heart of a child
